Project overview

One movement, three modes.

A packaging-machinery manufacturer needed a 68-tonne production line moved from Milan to Leeds — too heavy for a standard trailer, too urgent for pure ocean. We split it: sea freight to Rotterdam, barge to the Humber, air freight for the control cabinets, and heavy haul for the final fifty miles.

  • Client: packaging-machinery manufacturer, Milan–Leeds
  • Cargo: 68-tonne line in 14 lifts, heaviest 22 tonnes
  • Modes: ocean, air, barge and heavy-haul road combined

Challenge & approach

Heavy, urgent, complex.

The challenge

Permits in three countries, a tidal berth window at the Humber, and control cabinets that could not wait for the vessel — all converging on one installation weekend.

The approach

A single forwarder owned the critical path: escort-booked heavy haul, pre-cleared customs at each border, and the electronics flown ahead for commissioning.

The outcome

The line arrived in sequence, installation started on schedule, and the factory hit its first production run date.
